猜谜语： During the holidays, what's guaranteed to 1) Cause you more stress than all your holiday shopping put together 2) Cost more than any other item of clothing you own 4) AND... hang in your closet and never EVER be worn again? Answer: The holiday party outfit! So, I learn that this company office party is pretty swanky - dress attire is formal/business. Now, I have to spend hours at the mall finding something that looks cute but classy, party-ish yet sophisticated, fun yet professional.....slightly revealing without making me look like a hoe. And i have to find the perfect pair of matching stilettos that don't look like slut-lettos. It would be easy to just not go, but that would be professional suicide. The last thing I want to do is have my boss think I'm not a team player..ack. But seriously, these things are great opportunities to network, and one of the few times during the year that the company actually encourages socializing. Plus, I'm new to the company, so it's a great chance to get to know all my new colleagues around Texas. There'll probably be around 100 employees attending the 4 hour party, which means i have to meet a new co-worker every 2.4 minutes. Whew. It'll be a productive night. |
